RIT – Day 20

20 down … 0 to go!!!!

WHOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!! I’ve slayed the workout monkey.

I must confess, I came home later than normal today and was not feeling to work out.  In fact I thought I would put it off until tomorrow. BUT Diva nagged me to go get it done.  I’m glad I did.

I over-ate at lunch.  All you can eat sushi is such a tempting beast.  I think I will have to decline moving forward.  I swear I was waddling when I left the restaurant.  I was so full.

Now that I have reached the end of this challenge I am grateful.  Grateful that it’s over 😉 and grateful that I stuck with it. 🙂

Tomorrow I will take my measurements and see if there are any changes.

My plan is to continue exercising.  I will be starting back at level 1.  I’m not sure that I will work out 5 days in a row, but that is my current schedule so I will try to stick with it.  I can’t promise that I will be blogging about it daily.

RIT – Day 19

19 down … 1 to go.

19 down …

19 down …

I’m going to take a minute to let that one sink in.

I’m feeling stronger and a little bit leaner. 🙂

Tomorrow I will have my all you can eat sushi lunch and enjoy it.  Then I will come home and bring my “A+” game for my last workout.

For the love of a good book

I forgot how much I love reading until recently.

Usually I read books that have a purpose.  How to get out of debt, how to better manage time, how to be a better parent/person etc.

I get recommendations from anywhere and everywhere. Then I log into my local library to reserve a copy of the book if it is available.  Some books I have enjoyed and others I have endured.

A few months ago I read The Taker by Alma Katsu.  For whatever reason I punished to finish this book.  While the story line was interesting enough I was not heavily invested in the characters.  I finished the book because I started the book, no other reason.  My co-worker told me it was part of a trilogy.  I will not be picking up any of the other books.

A recommendation for Wild by Cheryl Strayed crossed my path and when I went to look it up online at the library the number of holds on the book was over 500.  I took that as an indication that the book will be a good one and I added my name to the list.  4 weeks ago it was my turn.  I thought this book would be like Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert but outside.  It was not.  This book had me laughing and shaking my head.  I enjoyed this book.

Last night I stayed up finishing Secret Daughter by Silipi Somaya Gowda.  I have taken this book out of the library a few times but never found the time to start it and since it was in demand I could not renew it.  Well I started it sometime last week and thankfully I am finished so I can get some sleep.  The ending … I didn’t see it coming.  I really enjoyed this book.

I recently joined goodreads.com to try to keep the list of books I want to read in one place.  If you are a reader I would highly recommend this site.  If you are already a member and want to be friends, let me know.

I am waiting for Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn from the library.  I just checked and it is “on its way”.  Oh goodness, this sounds like more sleepless nights for me.

Do you have any book suggestions?

RIT – Day 18

18 down … 2 more to go.

I can’t believe this challenge is almost done.  It seems like it was just yesterday that those numbers were reversed.

Today’s workout seemed easier than yesterday’s.

With only 2 more days to go on this quest I have been pondering what to do next.

I’m leaning towards starting over again at level 1.  I want to see if going through this hell challenge made a big difference.  I know it’s made a difference but I would like to see if it’s real not imagined.

Maybe this time around I can follow along with the advance instructor. 😉

IWIW – 11/28/12

I am going down the road to “La La land” where I am not only a semi-permanent resident, I am the reigning Queen!!

In my “perfect” life I would have the following:

Chef

Housekeeper

Nanny

Chauffeur

Pilot

Personal Assistant

Am I missing anything?

RIT 17 – Day 17

17 down … 3 more to go.

Chaturanga push ups … this is the exercise that either breaks me or makes me.

 (Source)

This is what I am working up to.  Right now I do these on my knees.  And. It’s. Still. Hard. 😦  My arms feel like wet noodles right now.

Today at work we had Thanksgiving dinner for lunch; fried turkey, stuffing, cheesy potato something, cranberry sauce, gravy and salad.  I was doing really well until my co-worker brought out her homemade carrot cake with made from scratch cream cheese frosting.

Yummmm cream cheese frosting.

Okay, so I wasn’t doing quite so well.  I inhaled copious amounts of fried turkey skin … some with salt.  So good.  The cake just put me over the top, but it was worth it.

There is talk of another trip to the all you can eat sushi place on Friday … have mercy.

RIT – Day 16

16 down … 4 more to go.

The scale … the scale *shakes fist* is not my friend.

This morning’s weigh in was 1 pound more than last week.  Must have been the all you can eat sushi!!! 😦

I honestly don’t know what happened.  I have been below my calories with the exception of last Tuesday.  Oh well.  I will just carry on.

Level 4,  day 1 was horrible.  I am not sure if it was the sadness of the weight gain or the tiredness from Diva’s 6 am alarm going off, but it was not my best effort.  I could make more excuses but I won’t.  I did not put my best foot forward.

I’m going to shake it off.  Tomorrow is another opportunity to bring my “A” game.

In spite of my lesser effort my body still hurts.

AND

I am starting to see some muscles. 🙂

In unrelated news, today my village lost its idiot … I mean mayor.  I am not a Rob Ford fan.  He lost me when he refused to attend the Gay Pride parade.  I understand that he may not approve of the lifestyle but he is the mayor of a metropolitan city.  And his job is to support ALL its citizens.

No bad.  Not great.

I need to take $185 from my sealed pot to cover off my Christmas shopping.  I have a bad habit of saving up money for a goal and then using money out of my regular budget to cover it and then falling short on my budget or feeling very tightly squeezed. 😦

Today’s chores

I had a rough mental list.  It is short as I am not in the mood to do chores.

Today’s list is:

  1. 5 loads of laundry
  2. bake bread
  3. bake chocolate chip muffins
  4. make shepherd’s pie for dinner
  5. braid Diva’s hair

As of this moment:

  1. 4 out of the 5 loads have been done
  2. the dough has been made for the bread, waiting for it to finish rising
  3. muffins have been made.  I caved and made chocolate chip only muffins as requested by Diva.  No banana or oatmeal, but I did include flax-seeds.   Shhhhh, don’t tell her 😉  She just had one and liked it.  Now to figure out how to “healthy” it up some more without her noticing
  4. shepherd’s pie is in the oven, almost done
  5. I have not started her hair yet, this needs to be done before she goes to bed or else it will not happen during the week

I am ready to eat dinner and put my feet up.

Yesterday

Nothing reiterates to me that I am not a morning person more than getting up early on the week-end.

Yesterday I had to pick up Diva from her friend’s house at 9:30 am.  I set my alarm for 8.  I don’t think that I stayed up too late on Friday night, maybe midnight.  But when that alarm went off my body cried.  I dragged to get out of my bed. 😦  I was all right while we were out and about but as soon as I got home and stopped moving the tiredness returned. 😦

We met up with my girlfriend and her husband at Cora’s.  The place was busy as it usually is on the week-end.  Once seated we went over the menu.  I struggled with what to order.  I did not see taking home half the 10 star omelette as a viable option.  As I was getting annoyed with all the different high calorie options I saw it … in tiny print.  A little section called “Good Morning”.  3 options; 2 eggs and bacon or sausage, 2 eggs and something I can’t remember, and 2 eggs with fresh fruit.  I swear the angels sang to me at this point.

Having read that Cora’s uses heavy cream in their omelets and who knows what else I opted for boiled eggs and bacon.  It came with potatoes that looked barely cooked.  Made them that much easier to not eat. 😉

Even with having to peel my eggs, I finished before everyone.  My girl was surprised that I didn’t want anything else as she inhaled her 10 star omelette, extra side of sausages, potatoes and toast.

Diva ordered 3 eggs scrambled with 3 pieces of bacon and 3 sausages.  It too came with potatoes.  As she was 75% finished she picked up a potato with a hair on it.  I tried my best not to look too put off, but inside I was ill.  Anyhoo, the waitress offered to bring her another full plate of breakfast which she accepted and ate most of!

Princess had a plate size waffle with fruit on it and what she thought would be English cream but was custard.  I didn’t even know that this child knew what English cream was.  I learn something new every day.

After breakfast, we all went into a couple of the stores in the plaza.  I am still on the look out for a bigger purse.  It will be to my own detriment but I would like to be able to put more than just my wallet in my bag.  Most mornings I go to work with at least a purse, my lunch bag, a book and the returned mail I’ve picked up for the company.  It is a logistics nightmare.  If I could find a bag big enough to hold a book that would be nice.  Alas it was not meant to be yesterday.

We said our good-byes to my friends and went to Superstore where I was on the hunt for Mediterranean Pistachio Passion Taste of Nature bars.  The Superstore had other flavours but not this one.

We went home to relax until it was time for volleyball at 4:15 pm.  Right before we left the house I ate again.  I was the only one.

After volleyball, we went to Wal-mart to pick up a few ingredients for dinner.  Garbage bread rolls were on the menu.

What is a garbage bread roll?  Roll out pizza dough, put ingredients on it then roll it up like a jelly roll and bake it.  Super delicious.

Well Ms Diva was not feeling for a garbage bread roll so she opted to have the rest of a rather large serving of Skinny Chicken Broccoli Alfredo.  After this she was still hungry so she had 2 slices of the garbage bread roll, then a bowl of snap peas, followed by chips and an ice cream bar.  I think it’s safe to say someone is going through a growth spurt.  If she is going to eat like this every day I am going to have to get a second job!

The rest of the night we just lazed around watching Mr Bean episodes borrowed from the library.

I now need to figure out what is reasonable to put on today’s to do list.  TTYL
