Back on the wagon

For the past week I have been trying to motivate myself to eat the frog.  For those of you new to the party, “eating the frog” is doing the activity you most don’t want to do.  For me that is usually exercising.

I even put a Jillian video in the DVD player so I had one less step to do.

It didn’t work until today.

I got up this morning determined.  I would like to get myself in shape before my next birthday in 3 months.  It might be a bit of an over reach but if I don’t go big I tend to not go at all.

30 Day Shred, which used to be “easy”, had me puffing today.

I have also resurrected my My Fitness Pal account to keep myself accountable.

I will use the next 4 days to get back in the swing of things.

Project Get Healthy is back!! 🙂

Just do it

Nike has it right.
I am starting to feel sluggish.  I stepped on the scale recently to confirm a slight increase in weight.  It could be “water weight” but it’s still additional pounds I do not want.
I read Theodora’s account of becoming someone who works out in the morning and decided I really didn’t have a great excuse not to join her.  So last night I set my alarm 30 minutes earlier and said “let me just do it.”
The alarm went off this morning and I would be lying if I told you I jumped out of bed like a bunny rabbit and went to work out.  I pressed snooze and then crawled back into bed.  Thing is in my head I was thinking “you don’t feel tired, so what excuse are you going to use today?”  Yes sometimes I talk to myself in 3rd person.
Anyhoo … I could not come up with any real reason to stop me from working out.  I even bargained with myself by offering up 30 Day Shred as a “quick” 20 minutes and I didn’t have to follow the advance workout; I could play beginner. LOL
I was out of bed and ready to work out within 10 minutes of the alarm going off.  I was mighty impressed with myself.
At the end of it I was a hot sweaty mess but so glad that the workout monkey was off my back.
I am feeling a little sore ALREADY!?!
The true test will be tomorrow morning.  Hopefully this starts a brand new routine. Especially since winter is coming and I have a very hard time getting up when it’s dark outside.

I did it!

I got up this morning and dropped Diva off early.  I came back home and instead of returning to bed, I put 30 Day Shred in my DVD player and hit play.

I broke down over the weekend and bought 3 lbs weights.  I find 2 lbs too light and the 5 lbs too much.

I used the 3 lbs today.  I am feeling my muscles already. 🙂

Tomorrow I am going to get up and do some yoga or stretching, so I don’t seize up.

I am hoping this is the start of a new routine.

I worked out!

Oh my word am I ever sore.  I managed 4 workouts this week 🙂 and I am feeling it. 😦

Monday I spent time with Killer Buns and Thighs.  I brought my A game.  And I think I am still feeling that workout!! LOL

Tuesday and Thursday I did Callanetics in order to stretch out my tired muscles.

Wednesday I had a quick thought to do Killer Buns and Thighs again but I didn’t think I had the strength, so I traded it for 30 Day Shred.  This workout hurt.  I remember when it was easy.

Today I rested.

I had dreams of doing Killer Buns and Thighs 3 times this week.  I will try to do it tomorrow morning before I return the DVD to the library, but I make no promises.

So tired

Yesterday after work I went to the grocery store and picked up more than I had intended.  I then went to dinner and it was disappointing.  The food used to be good.  Now it’s just watered down and bland.

I managed to go into a bakery near the restaurant and bought some goodies.  I used tonight’s dinner as justification.  It was dessert. 😉

After dinner I went to Costco to pick up a slab of salmon to bake for dinner tonight.  I was originally going to make stew pork but I invited my Aunt and she is not a fan.  While at Costco … I picked up some snacks for my girls.

This morning I got up around 6:30 am.  Much too early for a Saturday.  I went to drop Diva at her friend’s house for 7.

I came back home with the intention of getting the meat I bought on Friday seasoned and put in the freezer BUT tiredness overcame me and I went to lay down.

BIG mistake.

I did go back to sleep but I woke up more tired than I started.

I did the 30 day shred which hurt as I did it less than 12 hours before.

**Let me back track for a quick second.  Last night after I got home from Costco at 8:30 pm I had to give my girls the ugly face as I left them with a couple of chores to do and they did not do them.  So we put away the groceries from Costco and then cleaned up the house.  It was almost 10 by the time we were finished.  I was spent.  Then I remembered that I had not worked out.  My kids were “encouraging” me to go get it done.  One of my cousins popped up on Skype and told me not to overextend myself.  By the time I psyched myself up to workout it was 10:30 pm 😦  But I got it done.**

Now where was I?  Oh yes 30 day shred twice in less than 12 hours.  MADNESS!!!

I went to meet my girl for brunch at 11.  We had a nice time catching up and vowed to get back to our once a month date.

After brunch I stopped by the eyebrow place and there was NO ONE waiting in line.  Rare for a Saturday.  I was in and out in under 10 minutes. 🙂

Then I was off to pick up Diva from her friend’s house, then pick up my friend to bring her to my place.  On the way home I stopped at the liquor store to purchase a bottle of wine for my step-Mom.

It took us 3+ hours to clean out most of my cupboards.  My friend suggested that I group things in my cupboards by like items.  So all the canned goods go in one spot.  The spaghetti sauce in another, etc, etc.

I got rid of a lot of expired food and also food we were not going to eat.

Of course it is only when I sat down to write this post does it occur to me that I should have taken before pictures … or even after pics. O_o

After cleaning, I seasoned the salmon and then went out with my friend to pick up my Aunt.  My girl wanted to stop at a particular Walmart that was a bit out of the way.  Had it not been after 6:30 and I was only running on food from brunch it might have happened.  But hunger won and we just picked up my Aunt.  I told my friend we could go when I was dropping my Aunt home since that Walmart is open until 11 pm.

I had Princess make rice and put the salmon in the oven while I was out.  By the time we returned the rice was supposed to be ready but it was still wet so that gave me time to steam the carrots.

We ate dinner, had bakery goodies for dessert. 🙂

Then after 8 pm my girl reminded me of our trip to Walmart.  I said we still had time.  She stated she wanted to walk around. 😦  I swear she was just going to get 3 or 4 things.

My Aunt said she wanted to make the trip as she needed a battery.

So after 9 off we went to Walmart.  We spent over 1 hour wandering around while my girl went up and down most aisles.

I did not return home until after 11 pm.

I am beat.

I still have meat in my fridge that I need to season before putting in the freezer. 😦  I plan to get this done tomorrow before I go to my Dad’s.

If time permits, I would like to take my girls to see Iron Man 3.  I have movie passes. 🙂

Shhhh, don’t tell Princess, just in case there isn’t time.

PGH – 5/9/13

Monday & Tuesday were lost days where exercise is concerned.

I left work early yesterday so I really had no good excuse not to work out so I did.  I worked out again today after work.  Getting up in the morning to work out is not working for me this week.

My weight is about the same as last week.  Considering how much I worked out last week … I was hoping for a decrease. *sigh*

I am still counting calories like a madwoman.  I need to do better about getting veggies into my day.

Since I missed didn’t working out on Monday and Tuesday I will be exercising on Saturday and Sunday to make up for it.  So I will be working out for the next 10 days straight. o_O

I can do it.  Yes I can!! LOL

PGH – 4/29/13

It’s been a while since I have blogged about Project Get Healthy.  Mainly due to not much no change in my weight.

This morning I got happy news when I stepped on the scale.  Down 0.8 lbs for an overall weight loss of over 20 lbs!!!  Break out the ice water and celery!!! 😉

I have 9.4 lbs to go until I hit my initial goal.  I have added another goal of an additional 9 lbs to that so I can have some wiggle room.  I’d like to be in the middle of the weight range for my height.

I did not exercise at all last week.  I just tried to stay within my allotted 1330 calories for the day.

I have entered into another 30 Day Shred challenge.  My boss and another lady at work are on the weight loss journey and we have decided to do the 30 Day Shred, Monday through Friday for the next 12 weeks.

The plan is to do 30DS first thing in the morning and do something else Leslie or Callanetics 2 or 3 afternoons during the week.

I can see the end of the tunnel so I am stepping up my pace to get there sooner.

I like this new me who has more energy and whose pants are starting to fall off. 🙂

Roll call

Early (for me) this morning, one of my co-workers sent me a text and surprisingly I heard it.  I tried to ignore it, but responsibility got the better of me.  She needed some technical help which required me to get my work computer from the living room.

With one eye open I swear some of my muscles made themselves known:

Hamstrings, present!!
Glutes, here.
Calves? Right one loud and clear, Left MIA.
Pecs, *waving hello*
Abs … what’s up!?!
Shoulders, we’re here too!!

I forgot the aftermath of no exercise.  I forgot that these muscles existed.  How nice that they refused all day to let me forget about them.

This evening I did level 1 of 30 Day Shred instead of Ripped in 30.  I figured it was best to work my muscles differently.

Maybe tomorrow my muscles won’t talk to me as loudly.

On a different side note, having split peas soup two days in a row might not be my best decision … just saying. O_o
