PT Opportunity
Not this past weekend but the weekend before, I went to a local chain restaurant and noticed there was a sign up announcing they are hiring. Since kitchen renovations don’t pay for themselves, I decided to go for it.
Instead of getting an application on the spot, I applied on-line. Truth be told I was really hungry and didn’t want to delay eating.
On-line there were also positions available in their call center, so I applied for that as well. I got an email last week to set up an interview for today. The call center is about 10 minutes away from my day job and about the same timing from my home.
At my interview, I was given an application to fill out. It included my availability. The shifts are longer that I would like. The shortest one is 6 hours. The latest shift starts at 5 pm. My day job ends at 5 pm. They are willing to work with me and offer a later start time. Even with that, I’m not sure that this is an opportunity I really want to take on.
There are mandatory shifts. One must work 2 out of 3 days between Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The weekend shifts are all evening shifts. Basically the weekend would be gone. Also, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are mandatory.
The lady who interviewed me is not the one making the decision, but she did think I would hear by the end of the week if they want to offer me the job. Training would be 2-3 days and then I would be live.
It doesn’t seem like complicated work. I would be taking food orders over the phone and entering it into their system.
I didn’t think to ask what the minimum amount of shifts I could work per week. I am hoping it is 2 or 3. Even that makes for long days as the earliest end time is 11 pm. While I am usually up at that hour, I am happily relaxing on the couch.
I think if offered the job, I will take it and try it out. Worse case scenario, if I don’t like it I can quit. Plus extra money can’t hurt right?
