Last week I attempted to put on my fat jeans right out of the dryer … It was a struggle. 😦
Monday I stepped on the scale. This confirmed what I feared, but knew was true. I have put on some weight. I feel it in my clothes.
Thursday I stepped on the scale again. Apparently I am a glutton for punishment. I was up 2 more pounds. 😭
So I am going back to tracking everything that goes into my mouth … starting tomorrow. 😉
I did the first video on this DVD on Saturday and I am still feeling it. The workout took me 30 minutes to complete as I stopped often. I will be doing these exercises every other day until I can do them straight through.
Now to convince myself to get up in the morning and get it done and out of the way.
It’s time to get back on the wagon. I have fallen off big time.
The office next to mine is the hub for all things delicious and unhealthy. The company supplies jube jubes.
Delightful sugary good times. Only 13 calories each, which wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t eat more than 10 a day.
The coworkers who share the treat office are also enablers. Frequently bringing in popcorn, chips, chocolates etc.
It’s time to put my health back at the top of my list. Starting with a massage today and I managed to sneak in a quick (look how out of shape I am) walk following Diva to the mall.
My endurance and cardio needs attention stat.
Tomorrow I am going to back to proper meal planning and a serious increase in vegetables. I will also get back on my fitness pal. Gotta keep accountable. 😉
Project get back to healthy starts again!
I bite the bullet and weighted myself on Monday. 4 lbs gone!! 🙂 AND more than 1 inch lost around my waist and hips. 😀

Last month I tried a few new to me workout DVDs. Some I liked. Others not so much. At one point I had borrowed 15 workout DVDs from the library.
First up an oldie, but goodie Buns of Steel.
This is not my mother’s Buns of Steel. I borrowed it only to see if anything had changed. It was an “okay” workout. Nothing to write home about. There were six 10 minute workouts and 3 workouts.
I was hot and sweaty at the end of Sculpt & Burn. This workout makes me realize I need to up my cardio game. There are four 10 minute workouts and a 5 minute warm up and cool down. You can mix and match to your heart’s content.
Jackie, where to start with her. The personal training video consists of two 25 minute workouts, an upper and lower/core. Both are pyramid style where you start with doing 1 rep of 2 exercises moving up to doing 10 reps. This is one circuit. There are 6 circuits. Jakie showed me how weak my upper body is. Both workouts were very challenging to me.
This DVD was more my speed, three 20 minute workouts, upper, lower and core. 🙂 Each workout consisted of strength training and cardio. The cardio broke up the intensity which I appreciated.
I loved this DVD. As in I put in a request for it the day I returned it and am patiently waiting for it to come back to me. Three 20 minute workouts, upper with weights, lower body with weights and a fast walk. The music is very upbeat which I really enjoyed.
I have nothing nice to say about either of these DVDs. Both were hard to follow along as the instructions were either missing or unclear. I was surprised as I liked her other videos and will stick to them.
I have a few more on hold at the library and will let you know if I find anything worthwhile.

I really like these 10 minute videos. Very easy to convince myself to do one and most times I do a second one once I’m warmed up. 🙂
I’ve re-started my love affair with myfitnesspal.com. I have been on point all month … lol … with both my tracking of calories and working out. 8 days and counting.
My body actually felt like it needed to move yesterday. 🙂 Strangest feeling ever!
It might just be all in my head but my legs and arms feel stronger. I think they look leaner too. Even if I am delusional I’ll take it as it is motivating me to continue.
Now to step on the scale …
I found a new exercise guru to not like.
So around 10 last night I come to terms with the fact that I still had not worked out. I borrowed the above video from the library thinking I can do 10 minute workouts. This is the second or third time it’s been in my house; first time in the DVD player.
Since I didn’t want to write on Sunday that I didn’t get my exercise on 5 times this week, I thought I’d cheap out and do one of these 10 minute ones.
How bad could it be!?!?!?!
Well my friends, it was challenging. 10 minutes doesn’t sound like a long time UNLESS you are focusing only on 1 body part. I started with abs as those workouts seem less intense to me. Read that as no jumping up and down. 😉 It was past 10 after all. The workout hurt a bit but I got through it with a few modifications and constantly repeating “It’s only 10 minutes. Girl you can do anything for 10 minutes”.
Well I am a glutton for punishment as I felt “warmed up and ready to do more”. Arms were next. Tracy said pick up your 3 pound weights. This genius figured let’s just use the 5 pounders. This genius had to concede to the 3 pounds. Holy moly my arms were
talking yelling at me. My 10 minute mantra was not working. Breaks were taken. At the end of it all I asked for volunteers to feed me today. Diva kindly volunteered Princess. lol
This morning my shoulders felt like they did some work but I was capable of getting myself together. So much so I did the butt and legs workouts. Those ones were much worse AND I did them without the recommended 1.5 or 2.5 ankle weights.
Tracy Anderson is a beast.
I actually own her Mat Workout video above, which is still in the plastic. I think I know why.
I am typing this up afraid to laugh as my abs are telling me “don’t you dare think about doing her again tomorrow”. My butt and legs are in agreement.
Can you guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow?
If this week has taught me anything is that I need to work out first thing or else it does not get done. 😦
I did the above video on Wednesday and felt it for the rest of the week. Next week I will go back to some of the videos in my collection. Might be time to bring back Jillian. Also on my list of things to do is to start another cleanse. My eating over the past few months has been lacking. I am eating junk late at night just because I can. 😦 Time to clean up my diet. Nothing like a little detox to get me back on track.
In order to be prepared for it I will make a pot of chicken soup today so I don’t have to think too much about what to eat as that is usually what does me in.

- meal plan
- make chicken & veggie soup
- make bake & saltfish
- watch one of the many movies borrowed from the library
I think that’s enough for one day.
It was after 11 last night when I grudgingly decided I should honour my decision to move during the work week. I was thinking “easy” work out when I remembered I brought home 2 new The Firm videos from the library. I clearly didn’t think this one through as both work outs were some sort of sculpting …
I choose the above one as it was “only” 20 minutes long. I must confess at no point during or after did I look like the chick on the cover. lol
This video is to be done with a 9 lbs weighted bar. I do not have such a thing so I substituted a pair of 5 lbs dumbbells. Not my best decision but I decided to kick it up a notch! I may be rethinking my arrogance in the coming days. lol I was a hot sweaty mess by the end of those very short 20 minutes.
Given that I was up late last night, there was no morning exercise done by me. 😦 Today with be a cardio day. Another 20 minute The Firm video to the rescue. 🙂
On a different but related tip, I am not a good scientist. I have yet to weigh or measure myself. I do feel stronger and less flabby. It would have been nice to have a benchmark but at the end of the day as long as I keep moving I should be good to go. The thing is to not fall off the wagon this time. 😉
Project Get Healthy is back in swing.
I have re-committed to moving at least 5 times a week, preferably Monday – Friday. 😉 Ideally first thing in the morning so that it’s off my list of things to do and I can enjoy my evening with the peace of mind that I “ate the frog”.
I am starting with The Firm video and Leslie Sansone. 20 minute workouts is where is it at for me right now. I need to build back up my strength and endurance. I put 2 more The Firm videos on hold at the library and will pick them up later this week.
Once I get my exercise under control I will tackle my diet. I need to eat more veggies and less cake …
I want to blame Diva for encouraging me to bring this delicious Belgium chocolate cake into the house. But the truth it I am the one who pays for them. Did I mention it’s yummy?
I don’t know what I was thinking but Bob & I are not on friendly terms right now.
I have been using the weekends to get longer workouts in. Bob doesn’t seem to do 20-30 minute workouts so this is our only time together for the week, which might be a good thing.
Totally Ripped Core was a challenge. I yelled at Bob more than I think I have ever yelled at Jillian. More times than not, I told him I didn’t want to do whatever it was that he was doing. I did it, not always well but I did do it.
OMG, I was a hot sweaty mess by the end. Tomorrow I think I will be feeling my muscles.
Unfortunately Yeah I was able to renew Totally Ripped Core and Yoga for the Warrior another week so tomorrow I will be doing the yoga video again. And next Saturday I will be fighting Bob and my core again.
This getting fit thing is work. It really is. I would like to say that I was mad at myself for letting myself fall off the wagon but I’m not. Those were some great meals and I had lots of periods of inactivity. It was inevitable. Plus the working out gives me something to do and I am feeling stronger.
I will get there.
So I will admit I am not the sharpest crayon in the box all the time.
Sunday night I slept badly and woke up with an achy shoulder. I still did my 30 Day Shred on Monday morning … like a crazy person.
Tuesday morning I woke up, sore shoulder still present. Again I do the 30 Day Shred. Then I went to the gym last night expecting to go a yoga class but instead we did some kind of cardio dance class which was not what I at all what I would have signed up for. I should have stopped there but there was a 15 minute ab class and since we were already there I thought why not.
We spent about 7 minutes in various forms of plank which aggravated my poor shoulder.
This morning I at least had the good sense to not do 30 Day Shred. But it wasn’t until I was getting ready for work did it occur to me that I could just walk.
Leslie Sansone … we have not spent any time together in much too long.
So tonight when I got home I went searching for her. I pulled out the Walk Away The Pounds video that I got from my secret sister The Hawaii Planner and just did a quick 1 mile. I can’t believe I forgot all about Leslie. It was a low impact workout which still had me feeling like I did a workout. Until my shoulder starts to feel better I think I will be spending more time with my old friend Leslie.
